The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is seeking examples from stone, sand and gravel of the employment of technology to boost workplace safety and health. Past honoree was Luck Stone for its Remote Loader Operator, in which a Cat 988G pit loader was modified for remote operation; this significantly reduce risk of injuries. See attached info piece from NIOSH for details. Winning entry will be honored at NSSGA’s Convention in 2016 in Nashville, TN. NSSGA fully supports this program because it brings favorable attention to aggregates for excellence in managing for safety and health. Deadline for NIOSH’s receipt of submissions is Tuesday, December 1, 2015.
