MdQI Fall Construction & Engineering Career Day

The MdQI Outreach Subcommittee will be hosting our annual Anne Arundel County Engineering and Construction Career Day on October 19, 2023, at the La Fontaine Bleue. The support of our industry partners has allowed us to successfully host this event as well as other worthwhile programs and initiatives throughout the year. Your monetary and voluntary support contributes immensely to our MdQI Outreach events by creating both informative and hands-on memorable experiences for each of the participants.

We invite you to join us at our Fall 2023 event; Engineering and Construction Career Day on October 19th at the La Fontaine Bleue from 9:00am - 2:30pm to continue our mission, introducing students to the various careers in the transportation industry thus increasing the pool of qualified candidates in the industry.

The Fall 2023 event is projected to host 400 students from Anne Arundel County Public High schools and Middle schools. The Career Day event showcases Construction Trades and Engineering Careers in the Transportation Industry with the help of local engineering firms, contractors, material producers, suppliers, and government personnel. The construction trades area is outside and features hands-on activities and transportation construction vehicles that allow students, teachers, and counselors to see firsthand opportunities, future employment and the work it takes to be in the field. The engineering careers area involves timed, interactive presentations on the multiple phases of the project development process: planning, surveying, design, structures, traffic, environmental, geotechnical, etc. Visit our student website to see pictures and information from past events at www.students.mdqi.org.

With the generous support of the following Outreach Youth Sponsorship Partners in Spring 2023, we were able to reach 200 students at our Baltimore City Career Day held at Coppermine Du Burns Arena on May 25th.

Our joint venture provides mutual growth in our organizations and better educational opportunities for students in our communities. Working together, we can empower students to further pursue transportation-related careers.
